Choosing the Perfect Glock for Concealed Carry

Choosing the Perfect Glock for Concealed Carry: Glock 48, 43x, or Glock 19? Concealed carry is a critical decision for those who prioritize personal safety and protection. When it comes to choosing the right firearm for concealed carry, Glock has established itself as a reliable and trusted brand. Among their popular options, the Glock 48, Glock 43x, and Glock 19 stand out as versatile and effective choices. Here are some of my thoughts on the three. 1. Compact and Concealable Design: One of the primary considerations for concealed carry is the size and weight of the firearm. The Glock 48, Glock 43x, and Glock 19 all share a slim and compact profile, making them ideal for discreet carry. The Glock 48 and Glock 43x boast a single-stack magazine design that contributes to their reduced width, ensuring minimal printing when concealed. The Glock 19, although slightly larger due to its double-stack magazine, strikes a balance between compactness and magazine capacity. 2. Comfortable Ergonomics: The comfort of carrying a concealed firearm throughout the day is crucial. All three Glock models feature the brand's distinctive ergonomic design, including their renowned "Safe Action" trigger system. This design not only enhances safety by preventing accidental discharges but also provides a consistent and comfortable shooting experience. The textured grips of these Glocks ensure a secure hold, even in adverse conditions. 3. Magazine Capacity: Balancing concealability with magazine capacity is a key consideration for concealed carriers. The Glock 48 and Glock 43x, with their single-stack magazines, offer a commendable compromise between slimness and capacity. The Glock 48 and 43x typically holds 10 rounds. Depending on the magazine used, aftermarket Shield Magazines can offer 15 rounds. However, this typically requires some modifications and parts changing. On the other hand, the Glock 19, thanks to its double-stack magazine, offers an even higher capacity of 15 or 17 rounds, giving carriers more ammunition without sacrificing concealment entirely. 4. Reliable Performance: Glock's reputation for reliability is well-deserved. These firearms are known for their durability and consistency, making them an excellent choice for concealed carry. The Glock 48, Glock 43x, and Glock 19 all share the same basic internal mechanism, which has been proven through extensive testing and real-world use. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced shooter, you can trust that these Glocks will perform when it matters most. The Glock 43x does have a shorter sight radius that can lead to accuracy issues for some. Both the Glock 43x and 48 I have also seen to be a little snappier in firing than my 19. I find my 19 is easier to maintain accuracy standards. 5. Customization and Accessories: Personalization is an essential aspect of firearm ownership. Glock offers a wide range of aftermarket accessories and modifications, allowing you to tailor your chosen model to your specific needs and preferences. Whether it's adding night sights, adjusting trigger pull, or enhancing the grip texture, the Glock platform provides countless options for customization. Conclusion: When it comes to selecting the perfect Glock for concealed carry, the Glock 48, Glock 43x, and Glock 19 all bring their own unique strengths to the table. The Glock 48 and Glock 43x excel in their slim profiles and comfortable ergonomics, making them easy to conceal without compromising on performance. Meanwhile, the Glock 19 offers a higher magazine capacity and versatility, ideal for those who prioritize ammunition capacity in their concealed carry choice. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your personal preferences, body type, and intended use. Take the time to handle and test each model if possible, ensuring that you're comfortable with how it feels in your hand and how well you can conceal it. Whichever Glock you choose, you can rely on its reputation for durability, safety, and performance to keep you protected in any concealed carry situation.

Until next time,

Brad Amick
